ABC Triple J Radio Description
Triple J is a national Australian radio station owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. This government-funded station began broadcasting in January 1975 as 2JJ, at 1540 kHz, on the AM band. In 1980 it changed to the FM band, on a frequency of 105.7 MHz and became 2JJJ (later, Triple J). However, it was still restricted within the greater Sydney region. In 1989 JJJ expanded nationally to: Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Darwin, Hobart, Melbourne, Newcastle, and Perth. Triple J focuses on alternative music with a heavy emphasis on Australian content.
