Often we hear the terms copyright, patent and trademark rights used together. In fact, the use of this term for ordinary people may not be a problem, because it is almost very similar and there is no difference.
Whereas in the context of intellectual property rights, the use of the term when used at the same time is a very fatal mistake.
1. Intellectual Property Rights
In law, these are called intellectual property rights, or HKI for short. And in general, IPR is divided into two kinds, namely copyright and industrial property rights.
a. Copyright
Copyright provides protection for creations in the fields of art, literature and science.
b. Industrial Property Rights
These rights consist of patents, trademarks, industrial design rights and trade secret rights:
- Patents provide protection for inventions in the field of technology.
- Brand Rights provide protection for logos or trade symbols.
- Industrial design rights provide protection for creations in the form of shapes, configurations, compositions which can be two-dimensional or three-dimensional which have aesthetic value and are used to produce a product, industrial commodity and handicrafts.
- Trade Secret Rights provide protection for business or technological information that has economic value and is kept confidential.
One of the reasons for this division of intellectual property rights is that these parts of intellectual property rights have different objects of protection.
