The Pantheon is an architectural basilica that was initially built as a temple to all the gods of Ancient Rome. The concept of the Pantheon is used today for monuments in which famous people are buried. It is the best-protected of all Roman buildings and probably one of the best-preserved buildings of its period. Pantheon has always been used throughout history. The design of the surviving structure is usually attributed to Trajan's architect Apollodorus of Damascus, but it is also speculated that it belonged to the emperor Hadrian or his architects. Used as a church since the 7th century, the Pantheon is Rome's oldest concrete domed building. There is a circular space at the top. The diameter of this dome is 43 meters. 9 ft. called oculus (eye) on its ceiling. (2.7 m) there is a clearing. Although there is a belief that there is no rain, this is not true. It is still not known how such a large diameter dome is made of concrete, with the technology of that day. At first, while there were pagan god statues inside, these statues were destroyed by the church, and the Pantheon was turned into a Catholic church.
The Pantheon is used as a church dedicated to "Saints Mary and Mary. Martyrs" (Latin: Sancta Maria ad Martyres) but is unofficially considered "Santa Maria Rotonda." The quadrilateral in front of the Pantheon is called Piazza Della Rotonda. The Pantheon is a state property operated by Italy's Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism through the Polo Museale del Lazio. Pantheon was visited by more than 6 million people in 2013.
The Pantheon's large circular domed cella with a traditional temple portico façade was unique in Roman architecture. However, when classical styles were revived, it became a standard example and was copied many times by later architects.
