Unnessesary new app is worse than the old one. The UI is fancier but somehow more confusing. It doesn't let you select routes to view all at once like the old app. To see an entire route you have to search for it individually and you can only see one at a time. The only feature that is an improvement over the old app is the ability to put in an address and it gives you directions. If transloc could bring back some of the features of the old app I might use this new one.
It is unnecessary to make it mandatory for people to share their location. The app is literally unusable if the location is turned off. I might want to search for a different route or look for bus stops at different places. It is not necessarily always true that I look for a bus service in a location that I currently am at. I like the previous rider and transloc apps which worked fine without the location.
Leaving the app running in the background doesn't update the location of the busses. Swapping back the app can show misleading or incorrect locations. When the location of the busses finally does update instead of snapping to the bus location it will do this funny little glide in a straight line to a different stop. This means you have to do a little guessing game where it will end up, and what direction it's going to figure out if you are going to miss your bus or not. It's poorly thought out.
