Comments about Meshtastic Android Version
Only real complaints are that there is no control/indication for how direct messages are encrypted and that trace route fail without any feedback at all. Otherwise it ticks most of the boxes for functionality. I guess the settings/config menus could be better, but that's a matter of preference. I think it might be better to hide a lot of the things no one should be using behind an "advanced" interface maybe. And hints/help about what some of these settings do would be useful too.
Meshtastic is an excellent project and this app is great, 4/5. The only improvement I'd like is perhaps an admin view and a simpler chat only view to be able to set up a network and hand it over to family and friends easier but still have an option to open a settings admin page. This might also help UI with stand alone devices like Tdeck. End users mostly need a chat window akin to a messaging app, but I love the project and will be looking to setup a backup comms network.
As an experimenter, I really like this app. There's certainly some room improvement like successful messages reporting back as failed and trace-route still hit and miss also it seems like location is only available when generally and universally enabled instead of "only while using app". Still all these are just improvements I would like but overall it is a very fun and useful app. Meshtastic LoRa continues to surprise me, I've made numerous contacts over 20 miles with the little 2" antenna!

Is Meshtastic safe for my device?
Open up
Yes, Meshtastic follows the Google Play content guidelines to ensure safe use on your Android device.
What is an XAPK file, and what should I do if the Meshtastic I downloaded is an XAPK file?
Open up
A file with .xapk extension is a compressed package file. It is a container file format that incorporates APK and additional associated files required for the installation.
The XAPK format was introduced to package the APK file and OBB file together for a seamless delivery and installation process.
XAPK format can help reduce the package size of application.
On mobile phones, users need to install the XAPK installer first, and then install XAPK files through that installer. You can find the installer here:https://apkcombo.com/how-to-install/. But on PC client, you just need to put the file on LDPlayer.
Can I play Meshtastic on my computer?
Open up
Yes, you can play Meshtastic on your computer by installing LDPlayer, an Android emulator. After installing LDPlayer, simply drag and drop the downloaded APK file into the emulator to start playing Meshtastic on PC. Alternatively, you can open the emulator, search for the game or app you want to play, and install it from there.
