Notepad Classic - Text Editor Description

Two editors in one app. The classic notepad you already know how to use, and a modern one for when the file you have opened turns out to be code.

No account. No sign-in. Nothing to set up. Install it and start typing.

📝 THE CLASSIC EDITOR

It opens straight into an empty page, the way the desktop notepad always did. File, Edit, Format — the menus are where you expect them, and so is everything under them.

• Open and edit any plain text file, whatever its extension
• Find and replace, with match case and a running count of matches
• Undo and redo, cut, copy, paste, select all
• Save As, including changing a file's extension to whatever you need
• Nine fonts and sixteen text sizes
• Starts in well under a second and stays out of your way

🌙 THE MODERN EDITOR

The same files, a better way to work with them.

• Syntax colouring, picked up from the file the moment you open it
• Every file in its own tab — keep up to ten open and move between them without losing your place
• Line numbers, word wrap, tab size and current-line highlighting
• Light and dark themes
• Find and replace
• Your open tabs are waiting for you the next time you come back

💻 LANGUAGES IT COLOURS

• Java, Kotlin, Swift
• Python, Ruby, PHP
• JavaScript, TypeScript
• C, C++, C#, Go, Rust
• HTML, XML, CSS
• JSON, YAML, SQL, Shell
• Markdown, and plain text

📂 FILES IT OPENS

• TXT, LOG, CSV, MD, INI, CONF
• JSON, XML, YAML, HTML, CSS, JS
• JAVA, KT, PY, PHP, RB, GO, RS, SQL, SH
• Anything else that is really just text, whatever it calls itself

🔒 OFFLINE, AND PRIVATE

• Nothing you write is uploaded — the app has no way to send a document anywhere
• No account, no profile, no email address, nothing to sign in to
• Works with no connection at all
• Your files stay in your own storage, opened from it and saved back to it

💡 WHAT PEOPLE USE IT FOR

• A shopping list you can open and close in three seconds
• A log file nothing else on the phone will open
• A stray comma in a JSON config, fixed on the bus
• A stylesheet you want to actually read, with the colours in the right places
• Notes on a document someone sent you, without waiting for anything to sync
• Renaming a .txt to a .csv because that is all it ever needed
• A scratchpad that is just a file, not an account

It is small, it is quick, and it does not get in your way.
