Greatchess app, some improvements would be nice. I've noticed that the game does not annotate checkmate ever. The spoken move will say say white/black wins but the notation will only display a check with the plus symbol instead of checkmate with the pound sign. I was able to import stockfish easily and no issues with that. The app connects to my House of Staunton eboard well, but Bluetooth connection does not support my companion ZMFchess clock and I have to use the USB connection instead.
It's a cool app. I can't get enough of it but it's extremely hard. There aren't any levels. You can't get better because every move you make it countered by a master move. It doesn't matter how much you "undo" because the engine will find a way to win. It finally "allowed" me to gain a material advantage enough to win--almost 30 moves later. I think it got back into master mode as soon as it gave away the advantage. It's fun to play (eyes mode) but sucks if you're looking to build confidence. ☹
Thank you for contributing this great, straightforward chess app with no ads and no spyware. I appreciate the focus on the AI rather than battery-wasting frills like fancy graphics. My only complaint is that it's too smart 😁 I'm not an experienced player by any means, but the easiest mode seems unbeatable on my phone. Something in between random and level 1 would be great.
